Your Monthly Dose of Flamenco

This Month's Newsletter is all about celebrating the 2022 student showcase…

Congratulations!

The 2022 Student Showcase on May 7th at Mayo Street Arts was truly spectacular; complete with 10 performances by 12 dancers highlighting a vast array of flamenco’s diverse styles. Students danced with a beautiful & delicate balance of skill & control, abandon & power, passion & grace. I could not be more proud of the year-long effort that each dancer made to polish their work as well as their courage to take to the stage.

As I said at the end of the show, flamenco is a complex and difficult art form. It takes a great and consistent dedication, abundant patience and a true love for the form. Much like learning a language, one must build a strong vocabulary through which to ‘speak’ flamenco with confidence and fluency. The dancers that performed each demonstrated their commitment to honing this fluency, enabling them to dance with impressive strength and freedom.

My deepest congratulations and ¡Ole! to each performer.

Below you will find some photo highlights from the show, as well as a video of the performance in its entirety in case you missed it or would like to see it again! Enjoy :)
